A significant amount of stress can be avoided by changing the way that you think about stressors. A new attitude is needed. No matter what happens to us we always have to think about it before we react. An ordinary life event happens, and we tell ourselves that it is "horrible" and "terrible" and the "world’s worst thing." Soon, we start to feel that this is true, and threat is perceived. Stress is being created by what we are thinking rather than what has actually happened. Adopting a realistic attitude to life events can reduce stress. Don’t make things worse than they are. Practice developing a positive attitude and much stress can be reduced. However, some stress will still remain.
